What we believe.
Our mission, vision, lifestyle, and the eleven fundamental truths that have anchored Shiloh since 1976.
To equip a church body to reach the world with the good news of Jesus Christ — establishing believers to passionately love and obey God's Word, and facilitating opportunities for building up individuals, families, and communities of a new generation of believers.
We fellowship at Shiloh in order to glorify God by teaching, deploying, and multiplying disciples of the Lord Jesus Christ for the work of the ministry.
Five anchors. One mission.
01
The Bible
The inspired and only infallible Word of God.
02
Prayer
Essential to unleashing God's power.
03
Togetherness
It is essential for the body of Christ to have unity.
04
Kingdom Living & Building
Spiritual growth is an intentional lifelong process.
05
Excellence
In everything we do, the spirit of excellence must be present.
B.A.P.T.I.S.T. — beliefs in motion.
These are the things we practice. Beliefs don't really matter unless they're translated into action.
Bible is our only rule
The Bible is our final authority — not a creed, not a denominational statement. 2 Timothy 3:15.
Autonomy of the local church
Jesus Christ is the head of this church. We are self-governing under Christ alone.
Priesthood of every believer
1 Peter 2:9. We all have equal access to God through Christ — all of us are priests.
Tithing
We finance the church through the faithful giving of members — between you and God.
Immersion
Colossians 2:12. Baptism is a public picture of being buried and raised with Christ.
Spirit-led living
John 15:5. He is our power source every single day — apart from Him we can do nothing.
Telling others about Christ
1 Peter 3:15. Every believer is called to share what God has done.
Eleven statements of Christian orthodoxy.
- 01
The Scriptures, Old and New Testaments, are God-breathed — the divine, trustworthy, and authoritative Word of God (2 Timothy 3:16).
- 02
The one true God eternally exists in three persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit (Matthew 28:19).
- 03
The Incarnation — the deity of Jesus of Nazareth, conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the virgin Mary, truly God and truly man (John 1:1, 14).
- 04
Mankind was originally created in God's image, fell into sin through disobedience, and cannot save himself (Romans 5:12).
- 05
Substitutionary Atonement — Jesus died on the Cross for our sins, was buried, and rose bodily on the third day (1 Corinthians 15:1-8).
- 06
Jesus ascended bodily into heaven, sits at the right hand of the Father, and will literally return (Acts 1:9-11).
- 07
Personal salvation of the repentant sinner — by grace through faith in the finished work of Christ (Ephesians 2:8-9).
- 08
Water baptism by immersion as an obedient response to the command of the Lord (Matthew 28:19).
- 09
The baptism with the Holy Spirit — empowerment to be witnesses about Christ (Acts 1:4-8).
- 10
The local church as the primary instrument of God on earth to disciple men (Ephesians 4:11-16).
- 11
On the Last Day, Jesus will return; the dead will be resurrected; the righteous rewarded and the wicked judged (Revelation 20:11-15).
